No Parking Lagos

Also run by JCAA is No Parking Lagos - an independent ‘blank canvas’ space open to host a wide range of activities not limited to: presentations and exhibitions, workshops, conferences, singular or small group meetings, and retail pop-ups. It also serves as a creative space for the exchange of ideas. Located in a historic district within Lagos island, the space features a 60sqm column free gallery and two garden terraces.

We aim to support the growth and development of the arts and expand its awareness through our robust exhibitions and educational programmes, film screenings, artist talks and other special projects.

Our exhibitions highlight artists who exemplify both exceptional talent and skill in their craft and have a cohesive body of work to showcase. We organise a programme of transcultural modern & contemporary art exhibitions by select emerging and established curators from around the world.

We also partner with other local art organizations to curate exhibitions at key destinations in Lagos.

Our quarterly Pop-up event is a lively mix of art, music and drinks. It offers an informal exhibition platform where artists, collectors and art enthusiasts can network in a relaxed environment. The aim of the pop-up is to offer moderately priced artworks from promising early and mid career artists to discerning art collectors.

We organize monthly film screenings showcasing select emerging and established filmmakers from around the world.

The film screenings give our young audience the opportunity to engage with the filmmakers in critical discussions about their work and other culturally relevant matters. The talk is usually led by experienced cultural practitioners, with introductions to featured filmmakers and their works in a relaxed atmosphere.

Our quarterly workshops will help bridge the gap between art enthusiasts looking to begin their artistic careers with leading industry professionals with years of working experience in their artistic fields. These practical workshops will take place in our physical space as well as field locations.

The programme will include beginner, intermediate and advanced classes on drawing, painting, sculpture, photography, collage and mixed media as well as digital based media.

The aim of the conversation series is to have an in-depth look into an artist’s career. Not limited to the process of creating, notions of concept, development and directions, the hour long session will also investigate differences between diverse artistic practices and also their many meeting points.

Residencies

With this programme, we bring artists and cultural practitioners into the city and provide important opportunities for international exchange, artistic development, and networking. Our residency space provides both living and studio units that allow us host residents for periods up to 3 months.

Our residency programme can also accommodate onsite production - supporting artists to create a significant body of new work and possibly show in our column free gallery within the same building or with any of our partner organisations.
